Frequently asked questions

Question 1

Is this a real store?

Accepted Answer

No. It is a live demonstration of an ecommerce system built by Ahmad Waqar. Nothing here is sold or shipped, and no payment is taken. Brand names and products are shown for demonstration only; the store is not affiliated with them.

Question 2

Can I place a test order?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Add products to the cart, go to checkout and choose pay on delivery. You get an order number, an order page and, with an account, loyalty points. Nothing is delivered and nothing is charged.

Question 3

What can I sell with this system?

Accepted Answer

Any catalog of physical products. The demo shows six niches: watches, apparel, footwear, bags and accessories, electronics, and grooming and fragrance, each with the variants it needs (size, colour, shoe size, dial, lens, bottle size, kit).

Question 4

Which currencies and languages does it support?

Accepted Answer

This demo runs in US dollars, British pounds and Pakistani rupees, and in English and Urdu, which reads right to left. Any other currency, country or language is a setting, not a rebuild.

Question 5

How do prices work in other currencies?

Accepted Answer

Each price is converted from the base currency with an exchange rate and rounded the way that currency is usually priced. A price can also be set by hand: the kurta and the shalwar kameez have their own rupee prices.

Question 6

What promotions does it support?

Accepted Answer

Sale events with a start and end date, automatic percentage and fixed discounts on categories, collections, brands or products, coupon codes, free shipping, personal vouchers, loyalty points and referral rewards.

Question 7

Who built it?

Accepted Answer

Ahmad Waqar, a fractional CTO. He designs, builds and operates the system himself, and owns it personally.

Question 8

How does the partnership model work?

Accepted Answer

Ahmad can work for a share in the business instead of only fees, so his return depends on the store doing well. The terms depend on the project: the details are on ahmadwaqar.com.

Question 9

Is there an admin panel?

Accepted Answer

The storefront, the API and the database you see here are complete. The back office (CMS) for staff is in development; until it ships, the catalog is managed through the API and data files.

Question 10

How do I get this for my brand?

Accepted Answer

Start on ahmadwaqar.com, or write to hello@ahmadwaqar.com with what you sell and where.
